Preserving, protecting and cleaning up our environment will be one of my top priorities as your legislator in the state Assembly. We must take every possible step toward sustainable living and reversing climate change in order to safeguard our children’s future.

As a founding member of Solar Sonoma, I am partnering with interested parties to bring about a day when we have a solar panel atop of every residence and business in the North Bay. Installing these panels will reduce dependence on our fossil-fuel powered energy grid and help our community become energy neutral.

As chairperson of the Accountable Development Coalition, I engage developers on local projects to ensure the highest environmental standards of land and water use are met. Local development is a key to stimulating commerce, innovation, and job creation, but further damage to the environment is unacceptable. This is why, as your legislator, I will continue to demand the highest standards of sustainability. Together, we can work to encourage pedestrian - and transit-oriented development, environmentally conscious construction, green building materials, and alternative fuels and energy sources that include solar voltaic electrical systems.

In the Assembly, I will support:

• Increased incentives for solar panel placement on new and existing buildings, both residential
  and commercial.
• Tighter restrictions on landfill expansion and placement.
• Restoring the budget cuts to our state park services and rangers.
• More open space and park development throughout the state.
• Tighter air and water pollution controls.
