Santa Rosa Commissioner Resigns To Run For Assembly

SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- Santa Rosa Planning Commissioner Michael Allen resigned Friday
to campaign for the 7th District State Assembly seat currently held by Noreen Evans.
Evans and State Senator Patricia Wiggins are serving as Allen's campaign co-chairs.
Evans, a Democrat, is running for the State Senate's 2nd District seat.
The 7th District represents parts of Napa, Solano, Sonoma counties and Santa Rosa.
Allen was appointed to the planning commission last year by Vice Mayor Gary Wysocky.
"Through my service on the planning commission, I've proven that I can be an
effective advocate for Santa Rosa residents," Allen said in a statement.
"In the State Assembly, I will build upon this work and my record of accomplishment
to tackle the diverse issues facing our community today," Allen said. » More

Allen also announced endorsements by Assemblyman Wesley Chesbro (D-1st District), the California Nurses Association, the California Federation of Teachers, and Carpenters Union Local 751.
